{"id":11,"date":"2017-02-22T19:15:20","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T18:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tomvst.be\/blog\/?p=11"},"modified":"2017-03-05T11:40:21","modified_gmt":"2017-03-05T10:40:21","slug":"mysqltuner-on-16-04-error-1054-42s22-at-line-1-unknown-column-password-in-where-clause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tomvst.net\/blog\/2017\/02\/mysqltuner-on-16-04-error-1054-42s22-at-line-1-unknown-column-password-in-where-clause\/","title":{"rendered":"MySQLTuner on 16.04: ERROR 1054 (42S22) at line 1: Unknown column &#8216;password&#8217; in &#8216;where clause&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When running MysqlTuner on Ubuntu 16.04, you might see the error &#8220;ERROR 1054 (42S22) at line 1: Unknown column &#8216;password&#8217; in &#8216;where clause'&#8221;, since Debian hasn&#8217;t updated his package yet (the fix has been implemented in later versions of MysqlTuner).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The root cause of this issue is the fact that MySQL changed the name of its password column in mysql.user from <strong>password<\/strong> to <strong>authentication_string<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To &#8216;temporarily&#8217; fix this, you can change the few entries (8 in total) containing &#8216;password&#8217; into &#8216;authentication_string&#8217; manually.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sudo nano \/usr\/bin\/mysqltuner<\/li>\n<li>2 entries to change under\u00a0<strong><span class=\"pl-c\">#<\/span> Looking for Empty Password<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>3 entries under\u00a0<strong><span class=\"pl-c\">#<\/span> Looking for User with user\/ uppercase \/capitalise user as password<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>3 entries under\u00a0<strong><span class=\"pl-c\">#<\/span> Looking for User with user\/ uppercase \/capitalise weak password<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just be sure to leave the PASSWORD() function untouched.
